JEFFERSONVILLE – Bedford North Lawrence finished seventh in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet on Wednesday night.
Columbus East won the team title with 295 points, followed by Jeffersonville (237) and Floyd Central (187). The Stars totaled 62 points.
Derek Hutchens (132 pounds), Drake Huber (160) and Isaac Johnson (182) were the top finishers for BNL. They all settled for fourth place in their respective divisions.
Hutchens started the night with a pin of Floyd’s J.T. Getz in 55 seconds, but he lost the semifinal to Jeff’s Connor Gilles 9-8, then suffered a pin to Jennings County’s Joey Moran in 2:41 in the consolation round.
Huber handled Floyd’s Quentin Garner 9-4 in his first round, then got trapped by Jeff’s Evan Clayton in 1:15 in the semifinal. He also fell to East’s Sam Merrill 9-8 in the consolation round.
Johnson opened by pinning Madison’s Dalton Berry in 4:40, but he followed with a pin loss to Jeff’s Cody Matherly (2:24) in the semifinal. He fell to Floyd’s Gabe Menefee in 30 seconds in the consolation.
Other finishers for the Stars included Reese Hamblen (7th at 126), Eli Houston (7th at 152), Christian Brown (5th at 170), James Covey (6th at 195), Joe Collins (7th at 220) and Byron Kyger (7th at 285).
The Stars will visit Columbus North on Thursday.
